IRON CREED / ENGINEERING PRACTICE

IRON CREED — the personified engineering process of Zhovten Games

IRON CREED personifies the development process and serves as the IT practice of Zhovten Games. We handle web development, infrastructure, automation, security, research, and technical publishing, joining them into one traceable system.

01

DevOps as a way of working

We think in systems, build manageable infrastructure, and design change so that every release leaves the system stronger.

For us, DevOps is how the entire engineering effort is organised: from the first architectural decision through deployment, observability, and the next change. We build websites, applications, infrastructure, and the tooling around them by joining development, automation, testing, security, and environment control into one process.

A project is treated as a system of data, dependencies, rules, states, and verifiable transitions. This makes it possible to evolve a product without accumulating arbitrary decisions and to retain a clear picture of how it works today and how it may change tomorrow.

02

Turning company data into working context for LLMs

We create a private corporate knowledge repository, build a structured company profile, and connect it to the LLM system chosen by the client.

Companies accumulate far more knowledge than they can use effectively: documentation, internal rules, decision history, product material, technical specifications, correspondence, procedures, and the experience of individual specialists.

We assemble these sources into a managed private boundary, define the data structure, entity relationships, and access rules, and then form a coherent organisational profile. The LLM receives relevant corporate context from that profile and can work with it through chat, a specialised interface, or an integration with existing systems.

The model remains the client’s choice. Knowledge architecture is separated from a specific AI provider, allowing the system to evolve with the technology without repeatedly rebuilding the corporate knowledge base.

03

A website that can be read by more than people

We build a structured index of a site’s materials, entities, and relationships so that search and AI systems can understand its meaning more accurately.

A traditional website is designed primarily around pages and human navigation. AI systems need additional structure: explicit entities, relationships, metadata, stable routes, and an intelligible map of the available corpus.

We create a machine-readable index of the entire site. It can include materials, categories, questions, concepts, authors, sources, products, services, and the relationships between them. Ordinary content therefore acquires an additional semantic layer.

This improves indexing, AI-agent access, corpus search, and the later connection of dedicated LLM interfaces. IRON CREED uses this approach for its own corpus: public content has a structured index and explicit relationships between individual entities.

WARDEN — an independent project verification boundary

We build a test system alongside the product to verify its behaviour, structure, and critical invariants before a change reaches production.

Product development creates change. WARDEN creates an independent mechanism for checking it. Each project defines properties the system must preserve: route availability, data structure, security rules, configuration integrity, build correctness, regression absence, and other critical conditions.

WARDEN runs automated checks, records the results, and can block a release when the established criteria are not met. The checks live alongside the main code and evolve with it. The team gains a separate control boundary that asks one simple question before a significant change: does the system still preserve the properties on which it was built?

Systems already at work

We publish cases whose boundaries can be described accurately: long-term infrastructure support, publishing systems, product work, and individual engineering assignments.

This is a map of practice centred on the problem, the system created, its support model, and the state of the product after implementation. It covers both long-running contracts and dense individual cases.

EMBO Studio · long-term infrastructure support

Our work with EMBO Studio began with article production and grew into continuous support for the studio’s internal projects. Under an active contract spanning more than three years, we maintain infrastructure, security, updates, and system corrections.

  • Parallel maintenance of 20+ internal websites.
  • Bulk procedures at the Cloudflare level.
  • Support for individual projects from an ongoing client.
  • Regular implementation of commercial services; the scope is outlined on the EMBO Studio services page.

Academic typesetting → an in-house publishing pipeline

We worked on academic journal typesetting, including Manuscript and Text Cultures. That experience demonstrated the value of a reproducible process and inspired ZG Journal Template, an open pipeline that transforms Markdown and YAML into a typography-controlled PDF.

Shifton, Zipy, and 200+ high-density cases

Teams we have worked with and remember warmly include Shifton and the Israeli product company Zipy. The currently documented body of work covers 200+ high-density cases—assignments in which content, product, and technical concerns required one combined solution.

  • Development and support of websites and commercial services.
  • Content systems, technical publishing, and automation.
  • Infrastructure, security, and operational support.
  • Mentorship and leadership of a large engineering department in an international startup.

This part of the portfolio primarily reflects the engineering path of the developer within the IRON CREED team, from hands-on programming to mentorship and team leadership.

Boundary of the public record

Cases completed before 2022 are excluded from this record. Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, we ended work with the Russian market and do not count that segment in the portfolio.

This note preserves the team’s professional continuity: the preceding decade of experience included work with international IT companies operating in the Russian Federation.

Game development is a separate track

The studio’s game-development experience is intentionally excluded from this list of IT cases. It is presented on the Zhovten Games projects page.

06

Public team profiles

Two professional tracks connect research, publishing practice, engineering, and the studio’s work.

Public identifiers and professional profiles are grouped separately for each team member.

07

What changes after implementation

Direct feedback records an observed result rather than a promise: quality, immersion in the problem, transparent communication, and adherence to requirements.

I hired Semen for a project for my client. I was truly impressed by his approach to work. At the start, he analysed every aspect in detail and developed a clear plan. Throughout the project he provided clear daily updates, so I always knew what was happening and what stage we were at. Thank you for the excellent work, and I look forward to working with you again.

As always, I am satisfied with the work: in addition to its high quality, the article-formatting process was optimised and the project documentation was supplemented, although neither was included in the requirements.

This test project involved deep and thoughtful immersion in the journal-layout process according to our templates and editorial practices. It is a large body of knowledge requiring both technical and substantive understanding. The work was done very well, and we were also pleased with the discussion throughout its execution.
